Battery draining and intrusive location tracking

Uber is desperately trying to get rid of its bad reviews with these frequent, useless updates. Uber wants access to my location at all times even when Im not using the app. The only options in location services: "Always" or "Never". Every other app allows me to select "While Using".
How intrusive - Uber was working fine before and didnt require this.
Even if I didnt care about being tracked at all times, this invasive tracking feature was draining my battery faster and adding to my data usage.
Lyft doesnt require this. No, you may not have access to my location when Im not using the app. I deleted the Uber app and have been using Lyft for my taxi needs. Lyft is just as good as Uber used to be and they seem to respect peoples location preferences.
