Incredibly dissatisfied with shady business tactics and horrible customer service. We used Uber recently thinking our ride would cost us roughly $22. We had a group of 6 of us and planned to get two divers. When the driver arrived we noticed his car would be able to seat us all in one trip. I asked the driver if that was ok and all he said was yes, no mention of it going to cost us any more. We cancelled the other driver and by the end of the ride the others had chipped in their portion of the ride (total of $22.56) Long after the driver had left and our evening had ended, I received an email from Uber that charged me an additional $25.56 with no explanation. It was too late for me to let the others who rode with me know that the price had changed. So Im stuck with the random $25.56 fee for the three extra people. After going back and forth with customer service they said they adjusted the price because there were more than 4 people in the car. Had the driver made that known to us at the time, we would have all agreed and paid our portion accordingly. However, because there was no mention of an increased fare and I received their email much too late, I am out an extra $25. Again, had it been made known to us before even getting in the car, this would not have been an issue, as I have expressed several times to Uber.
Any business that feels it can just dip into your account and take your money without your knowledge after you have already completed your transaction is no business I ever care to deal with ever again. They have refused to reimburse me for their mistake and their shady business tactics. I am yet another Uber customer who will never use them again. Drivers Ive had have been great but as a business, they are shady, distrustful and have terrible customer support. I should mention that the rate adjustment email came long after I was able to rate my driver. Prior to the hidden rate change I rated him 5 stars. Id now change his rating to a 1 as he should have made it known in the first place that he was charging us extra. Very disappointed and disgusted with Uber. Ill be using Lyft from now on and telling everyone I know to do the same.
