Apple Pay Split Fare

I have my Paypal and my two cards listed as payment methods on the app but I had to literally call an uber, change my payment method to a card, and cancel the uber in order to split the fare because it kept giving me an "apple pay isnt available for split fare" error... Youd think it would ask you what payment method to use if one isnt available.. or that apple pay would be made compatible with the feature
