I used Uber quite a lot over the past several years... but now Uber has run off the rails. Their privacy setting for n the app pretty much wants you give the app full access to your exact location ALL the time. No thanks to tracking me all the time. All-the-time GPS drains batteries too. This is just stupid Uber. But I am happy to report one AWESOME thing about Ubers downgrade - Uber convinced me to try Lyft and Fasten. Both are excellent, less expensive alternatives to Uber, and without the personal privacy abuses offered by Uber. Thanks Uber, for showing me that there are better fish in the sea. Original Review: Since the app and service are tightly coupled, my review is for both. Overall, very good. Generally better than a cab. I have had one problem driver - crazy guy - but likely no less crazy than some cab drivers I have had. App could be easier to use, but it is quite good.

Seriously. 200+ MB is a lot for a single purpose app with low graphics requirements.

Stop tracking my location always. Uber does not need it. The app is bad now and does not open properly sometimes. Id like to see the ability to rate other customers that I share an uber pool with

I want to tip, but many times I dont have cash.

Its fine as far as service goes but Juno is better in price (usually) and in customer service (definitely). Only time I use Uber is if theres a promo or if a Juno car is too far away (Juno has a little less cars, but every driver is verified to have high ratings).

It seems every time I update something changes and makes it more difficult to use the app. I frequently use it while Im in DC and have found it hard to use in a hurry because things are changing all the time.

Uber continues its downward spiral and has lost my trust. The perpetual location tracking in the recent versions is unacceptable. Making matters worse, they have *removed* the option to use iOSs native privacy controls to allow location tracking only while using the app. Lyft respects users privacy, unlike Uber. Also, Im no longer able to rate drivers, since after turning off location tracking theres a nag screen every time one opens or returns to the app, and that nag screen blocks the page where typically one would rate the driver right after a trip (dismissing the nag screen also dismissed the rating screen, which is a major design flaw). Uber has officially gone from hit-and-miss to terrible. And, on top of that, now Uber wants access to your contacts as well as your location. No thanks.

Location services option needs to go back to switch on only when using app. Theres no reason to "Always" require sharing my location. Lyft doesnt have this problem. Keep updating to clear the bad reviews out everyones just going to keep reposting them. Not sure why apple even allows this.. without actual and proper updates reviews shouldnt be cleared.

So its happened more than once that Ive requested a driver, get notified of having one and then five minutes later get notified they dropped me and its searching for yet another driver. Then sometimes the driver wont even show up for thirty minutes when it tells you Five. So then you cancel. And then you get charged. For literally nothing of your own fault. Im still trying to dispute two trips like that. Reputations going down, and the app is getting worse. Luckily most of the drivers are good people.

Ive been using this for 6 months. I LOVE the rideshare system and the convenience of doing everything thru an app, but THIS CO. has NO concerns for customers. Specifically: No contact us button ANYWHERE on app or website. No email address provided. No phone # to call a live person. VERY HARD to figure out how to send them ANY kind of messages in ANY way. Juno and Lyft provide ALL the above AND are cheaper. I switched and am glad. Good riddance Uber.

When you search the airport of your city, check the route carefully because possibly the destination is set to the middle of a runway and the route is several miles longer than it should be. As a result, youre paying $4~$6 extra for the distance you wont travel. I reported to Uber several month ago and never heard back. And, do they think people are used to the "Always on" location tracking? No reason for me to allow them to track my location 5 minutes after drop off, and no reason to trust them only doing what the claimed to do. And, people like me still havent forgotten that Uber requested hundreds of Lyft cars then cancelled them and did so again and again. What a mean company. Not that Im still using this app. In fact, I have not used it ever since I found the overcharging trap. Not to mention the location tracking. Im just keeping this app installed so that I can get back and leave a 1-star review whenever it is updated.

The app is simple to use, but I dont care to have the GPS on at all times even when Im not using the app. I turn of on and off between use, and it becomes a hassle.

Location tracking is all or nothing with Uber. Normal apps offer "track only when using", but Uber demands "Always track". If the past year has taught us anything, its "dont trust Uber to do the right thing". Partial workaround: disable GPS for the Uber app, and only turn it back on if you absolutely must use Uber. In the meantime Ive been using the friendly Uber competitor, and so far its worked like a charm. Thanks Uber, for encouraging me to check out other apps!

I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a refund. I’m very happy and I hope Uber continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Uber much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away, and price is usually the cheapest.
