Bad experience

I had a very bad experience they took a very long route instead of the short one and they didnt want to give me a refund for the extra money they took so im not using uber ever again

Horrible App. and even worse online customer service support

I am new to Uber (less than a week in) and I have had nothing but troubles. I was given a Uber gift card. One online rep. tells me the system is have technical problems/issues with supporting the gift cards, a few messages later Im told the issue has been fixed and the Uber gift card "can be used as sole means of payment" After hours of trying to schedule my first ride I end up needed to add my debit card and the first ride comes out of my bank account NOT the Uber gift card. The driver arrives that day to the complex across the street and I get hit with a $5 fee for "not be outside 5mins before" How would the driver know if I was outside or not if he was at the wrong place. So I go in to add my unit number (its been added at least a dozen times) but the online site will not maintain my updates. This a community filled with apartments and condos. Day 2s ride. I schedule my rides the night before being I need to be to work by 4am and give myself 30mins to arrive for a 15-20min ride. I get a message at 3:30am stating that my ride has been cancelled being "Uber does not accept Uber gift cards" Note: The gift card was bought directly from the Uber site. After countless emails, hours online trying to get Day 3s ride I have decided I will be taking this concern to The BBB as I realize 1. all gift cards are non-refundable 2. There is no live person to speak with 3. The online support gives misleading information 4. Customer service online telling me that my gift card was added and to "rest assure your alternative payment will NOT be used as payment it WILL only come from the Uber gift card" only to be charged on it twice. 5. I asked for a manager or supervisor follow up within 48 business hours and have heard nothing as of yet. 6. The driver is still not coming to the right part of my complex. This was Day 4 but you can put a fork in me kuz Im done with Uber Oh and what an invasion of our privacy...Bye Uber! I would advice NOT USING UBER! -0 stars for Uber. Very disappointed in this company. Once this gift card is up I will give Lyft a try!

Timeframe

Other than all of the other complaints on this map I feel like its false advertising when you add an address and destination and give an exact number of minutes before a ride is booked then change it to nearly twice that time once its booked. And of course there is the message popping up about there being a fee of you cancel within 5 minutes because now the time doesnt work for you. I would suggest a time range like 8-20 minutes or something.

Stop being so creepy

Not sure why uber feels the need to track your location "always". Why cant they offer an option for "while using".

UPDATE 2: As others have pointed out, Uber is likely pushing new updates just to clear out the bad reviews. Theyre hoping people will lose interest after a while and they can get away with their deceptive privacy practices unchecked. UPDATE: It looks like Uber was forced to remove the obvious lie from their app description, but with this version of the app they still can monitor your location at all times--not just when youve used Uber recently. And what about all the people who allowed the app to monitor their location because they believed the lie? The latest "feature" described in this update shows Uber never intended to keep that promise even for a second. Shame on them. Original review: Im an iOS developer and the description about how theyll use your location information is simply not true. With this configuration not only can they monitor your location for up to 5 minutes after you use the app, but also for up to 5 minutes *practically any time they want*, whether youve used the app or not. Additionally, apps that monitor your location all the time are one of the bigger causes of battery drain, even on newer devices. To the developers: Just be honest--youre yet another company who wants to snoop in on where people go and make a few extra bucks selling that information to the highest bidder. Many people will use the app anyway. The really irritating thing is that you easily could have left the original option (to get location info only while the app is being used) so that tech savvy people could change it in Settings. Instead you chose to explicitly remove that option and try to force people to accept something that benefits you at the expense of their batteries. Deleted. If you want my business youll have to bring the option back. Aside from Lyft, there are still plenty of cabs in D.C. and thanks to the competition the cabs are much better than they used to be.

Great App

Great App .. no problems

Terrible company

As shown in the news, Uber has a terrible corporate culture and they give me no reason to trust them with my location info at all times. They have no respect for their drivers or customers. They threw a fit, put 9 million dollars into misleading advertising for a vote to overturn fingerprinting rules, and left Austin instead of just fingerprinting drivers when they lost the vote they called for. Use Lyft or local rivals Fare or Fasten instead.

App doesnt fully function

Not requesting a pick up at my current location but at a pre saved location called home. When select home in app for pick up location will not fill into request and bar just goes back and forth likes its looking for it but it wont work. I have to type in address every single time now.

Buggy and hard to use

I tried to update my profile picture but there is no way to do that in the app or online. I reached out for support on twitter and what they said would fix it did not work. The latest version also makes it difficult to do simple thinks like updating the pickup location.

Location tracking always on

Super shady Uber is tracking always. Google what they have done with location tracking people in the past.

Uberpool is not great

Im changing my rating from 5 to 1 star. Uber has gotten significantly worse focusing on their own profit and not the customer. They change their rates without telling the customer and then blame them. They also significantly note a wait time of 3 minutes and then when you request your ride its at least twice as long and again charge the customer for their inaccuracy. Their business model seems to have shifted to screwing their customer to make an extra buck than wanting to be in it for the long term.

Tracks always

I switched to lyft. The drivers and experience is much better.

The Trump of ridesharing

Unethical and immoral. They paid of the Tea Party in Texas to overturn the Austins local decision to disallow their operations in our city for Ubers refusal to fingerprint check their drivers for the safety of the community. They have likewise been banned in places like Germany, where they were taken to task for their inhumane labor practices. Never again. Support ethical businesses, especially those based locally.

This app keeps getting shittier! Theres always a new update but "no update"! How come I cant rate other rides? Been emailing yall since but still. Should be giving yall a zero star if it was possible

Garbage

Updated my Uber app and now its forcing me to login using either Facebook or Google? Complete and total BS!!
