Might as well try it out since it probably wont cost you a thing! The app is easy to use and intuitive, giving you important info like the driver’s face, phone number, and car make/model. It’s amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water and candy! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have car chargers at your ready! UberX is definitely cheaper than your average cab. After all this, I don’t see why you would ever use a cab again. Even if you want to get a black car on the occasional night out, it’s still cheaper and more convenient than hiring your own private driver. The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a refund. I’m very happy and I hope Uber continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Uber much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away, and price is usually the cheapest.

4 April 2017 Update — Uber still wants to have always on location access. Please bring back "Only When Using the App." 22 Nov 2016 Update— Unfortunately had to delete the app when Uber took away the "only when using the app" location privacy setting. Despite what they say, I simply dont trust Uber not to data mine the F out of that info.

Now Uber app wants access to your calendar so Uber can spy on all your appointments and calendar info, all in the guise of not having to manually copy and paste the occasional address into the app. No thanks! Uber took away the customers choice to allow tracking location only when using the app. Now Uber wants to always track your location even when youre not using the app. Your only choice now with Uber is to allow the app to always track your location (even when not using the app) or to never allow the app to track your location (app wont work properly). Fortunately, competition exists with Lyft and I will be using them as long as they give me the choice that Uber has now taken away from me.

The update requires constant location access. This is not necessary or appropriate.

I deliberately do not use the app as often as I would like because you do not have an option to only use location tracking when using the app.

Stop tracking my location always. Uber does not need it. The app is bad now and does not open properly sometimes. Id like to see the ability to rate other customers that I share an uber pool with.

Wants 24/7 access to gps location - not just when using the app. KNOCK IT OFF WITH THE SPYWARE. Give us back the "when using app" option.

Hi there, I just wanted to say, that uber is really great for the visually impaired. Heres why, in the past when it came to pick up locations, uber had a very hard time with determining your exact location. Now what it does, is once you have been picked up, and then, dropped off at your drop off location, Uber now logs that information in the app, for easy booking of return rides to your location. And another thing, for those of you that have been complaining about uber using your location when not using the app, well Ive got news for you, it doesnt, even though it set to always. It may seem like it, but it does not use your location while youre not using it. Even better, when you come back in the range of your pick up location it remembers it. This way I dont have to go outside and wait for my ride, or yet worse, try to flag down my ride, like I had to do sometimes, with Lyft, and regular taxi cab services. Also for voiceover users yes I understand, that the new design is somewhat confusing. But however, the contact driver button is still there. You just have to open the feed where it shows your ETA arrival time for your driver. And inside that feed, is the contact driver button. I am from Portland Oregon, and the Uber experience here in Portland, has been great. Im sorry for all of the negative experiences youve had with Uber, it may be the drivers in your area where you are. But that should not make you stop using Uber, just because of a few bad experiences. Uber is definitely cheaper than your average taxi cab, and very accessible to people with vision disabilities. I would highly recommend it. Lift is also great, but there are times, when the GPS in the Lyft app, is off, by a bit. Well, not so with Uber. Once you are dropped off at your pick up location. One last thing I would like to add, is that uber is getting better as a company. Yes theyve had some struggles in the past, but they are getting better as a company very slowly. So again, that should not stop you from using Uber. In fact, I would recommend that you have both apps on your phone, both Uber and lift, just in case if Uber is not available in your area, where lift is.

Ever since the latest update of your app, it changes the addresses you put in. It makes it inconvenient for drivers, and riders. Please fix it!

I think it would be pretty cool if uber made an option where you can pick the driver, say you had a really good driver and you want him/her again.

Someone hacked into my account, which apparently violated Ubers terms of service and now Ive been banned for that. Customer service is no help at all. Uber - this is not 2003 anymore, GIVE US TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION. Jeez.

Terrible changes and bad service

I scheduled a ride to the airport ten days before I needed the ride. Ten minutes before the driver was due to pick me up I got a notice saying that there would be a surge charge of 2.2 times the normal fare. I did not have enough time to get another ride before my flight. After my ride I wrote to Uber, tried calling them, and sending an email--but no response at all. I can understand a surge rate, but not 2.2 times the regular rate. Im switching to the competition to see if they have better customer support and service.

Used to be a good app. But then they left only the option to switch geo usage either to never or always. Return "when using app"!!!! "Never" is very inconvenient but always drains power dramatically. Stupid. And I also had several problems with orders - when drivers just cancelled the rides. And to change my contact phone I need to send a request!

DO NOT RIDE WITH UBER. ALL UBER DRIVERS WILL TRY TO SEXUALLY HARASS YOU. UBER HIRES EVERYBODY AND ANYBODY , BACKGROUND CHECKS DO NOT WORK. LOTS OF FORMER FELONS AND INMATES BECOME UBER DRIVERS!!!!

Yeah, used to use this all the time. Then I got a driver who barely spoke English that spit on me when I got out of the car because he ended the trip in the wrong place and couldnt understand what I was saying. My Spanish is not good at all, and I really wish I couldve told him to go jump off a cliff, because anyone that spits on another human being in disgust deserves to be at the bottom of a river basin.
