I choose to not support discrimination and Ubers political stance. But all that aside, I found LYFT consistently quote me lower prices for the same distance. So its a win win for me to use LYFT.

I do not appreciate needing my location being tracked in order to open the app. Also, I had a app. malfunction and was charged for cancelling a ride. I tried for hours to clarify my issue with customer service until they eventually sent a message saying the conversation was over and discontinued responding to my concerns, ultimately, from my point of view, robbing me of five dollars. The amount of money is irrelevant, it is the audacity to be so absolutely rude and dismissive that is the most appalling. This company has seemingly no respect for their customers, they dont, as far as I know, have an easily accessible customer service number to call regardless of how of a popular of a company it is, and I have no intention of using their services in the future. It may be convenient but convenience is ultimately just another way how souls are lost. Dont bother with the app or the company.

Uber does not care about its riders or drivers just about making their money. Ive had an incident where I was trying to get home after a long day of work and the driver they linked me to did not want to pick me up due to the construction in the area. He kindly told me he would cancel and I agreed. Once it was canceled I requested another ride. I did and surprise, I was linked to the same driver that canceled on me who was much farther away now. He called me again and let me know he would cancel again which he did. At this point the app is on the home screen no rides or requests have been made. I used lyft instead so that I wouldnt be bothered with connecting with the same uber driver again. Imagine how upset I was after already being in my lyft ride to get a call from another uber driver stating he is at my pick up. I DID NOT REQUEST ANOTHER RIDE AFTER BEING CANCELED ON TWICE. I was charged a cancellation fee for a ride I never requested and tried multiple times to contact uber help about this issue, which they blatantly ignored me. They even deleted the help messages I have sent because it is no longer available for me to see it. I had to call my bank to dispute the charge. This is not the only problem I have but it is the most upsetting. Ive heard bad stories from drivers as well. My recommendation is to stay away from uber and use lyft.

When are we getting back the location service option "while using app only" ???? I wont allow the app to access my location at all times! Come on, uber! LYFT it is for now!

Tracking is always on. Uber is following its users in real time, everywhere they go, all the time. And theres no way to verify that its respecting the 5-min assertion. Huge privacy issue and sheer arrogance.

Poor service that has gotten ruder and ruder. Poor user interface. Poor ethics. Problematic location tracking!! And drains the battery. Criminal behavior. Apple - remove from "essentials". Not a consumer friendly company. Will my location data get hacked when Uber gets hacked? Why do you need my location when not using the app??? PRIVACY CONCERN!! And app quality getting worse not better. Go with the other guys. Apple- this app should be removed from "essentials" as nobody needs a battery draining 24/7 location tracker to hail a ride sharing service. This is not essential to anyone... Uber, the update you tried to sneak past us right before thanksgiving changes the location services to being able to track me even when not using the app. That is unacceptable. Just deleted the app and will NOT be using Uber anymore. #badpolicy #shameful Really a step backwards for Uber.

Im not going to recommend Uber. Why? Uber pulls the resale value out of your car to Pay YOU. Uber needs to compensate and pay the drivers real money so they can fix and maintain their car. Uber doesnt pay much to the drivers at all (Uber keeps about 60% of what the rider pays UBER). Once you consider your fuel cost, extremely high cost of ride-share car insurance, car maintenance, terrible wear and tear inside/outside of the car, significant loss of value at resale due to extremely high mileage Uber is not worth it. The Uber app is a very bad deal for the driver. However, the riders are getting a great deal on your dime and time. Sorry for the bad new. Thank you

The algorithm for pool riders is ridiculous. It took me 30 minutes extra to get to my destination and the car was packed with people and I did not feel safe. Lyft will be getting my money from now on.

The app is simple, easy to use and intuitive by design, giving you important info like the driver’s face, phone number, and car make and model. It’s amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water, gum and candy!!! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have phone chargers at your ready!!! UberX is definitely cheaper than your average cab. After all this, I don’t see why you would ever use a yellow cab again. The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a full refund. I’m very happy and I hope Uber continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service!! I also prefer Uber much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away!!!

Uber has been in a downward spiral and has lost my trust. The extended location tracking in the recent versions is unacceptable— and now they want access to your calendar, too. Forget it. Worst of all, they have *removed* the option to use iOSs native privacy controls to allow location tracking only while using the app. Im switching to Lyft, at least until that feature is restored. Also, Im no longer able to rate drivers, since after turning off location tracking theres a nag screen every time one opens or returns to the app, and that nag screen blocks the page where typically one would rate the driver right after a trip (dismissing the nag screen also dismissed the rating screen, which is a major design flaw). Uber has officially gone from hit-and-miss to terrible. And, on top of that, now Uber wants access to your contacts as well as your location. No thanks. Pass.

Why does Uber really need my location when not using? Lyft doesnt ask for my location when not using the app; I dont know why Uber needs it. Uber is trying to become the put-out shady cab companies they are replacing. I dont trust Uber with my data.
