So disappointed in Uber

I have been using Uber for several years and have had only good things to say. However, the last 2 days I have needed to use Uber and both experiences were not good at all. I am going to try Lyft now becuz I see good reviews. So disappointed! ?

Uber wont accept my payment. Nonsense.

My debit cards expiration date changed, I updated it in the app. Then in the app- Repeated "invalid payment method". I even added an entirely different form of payment- no luck. Customer service is no help. Not worth the nonsense. Moved to Lyft.

UBER (Boston) AND THE APP HAVE GONE DOWNHILL

Uber app these days, garbage. Long waits for price, constantly changing car arrival times ie: starts 5 mins, then after 5 mins its 8 mins, then 3 mins, 8 again.... I know Boston traffic is constant & a joke.... but this should include that? So I spend 10-20 mins just looking for it. Prices for X ALWAYS $5-8 more than last spring/summer -yet they claim only 1 small increase? Fares in general higher A LOT! Leave from same place every night & no surge mentioned but fares will vary like Sunday pool $6.99, Monday $11.50, Tues $7, Wed $11.89???? Why? Then they put out a Flat Fare program, then take it away, put it out, take it away, have us do an hour long survey on them & put out new program.. and take it away... seriously?? Change the zone for Boston Flat Fares to stop 3 blocks from where I go EVERY DAY IN BOSTON (W Rox) & dont tell you -but it covers Cambridge & Brookline???? Also -I believe these wealthy companies should pay employees excellent wages OF COURSE & hate that so many squeeze the little guy -but its so uncomfortable on 85-90% + of my Uber rides the drivers are talking about their pay (10% happy enough, 90% complaining) & the lack of tips.... its so awkward! Anyway, Uber needs to get on it or my 1-5 rides a day are done!!

New app is confusing. "Always tracks you"

New version is awful! -cant find way to pin destination on the map. (If I dont know the address, how can I put the destination?). e.g. Dubai doesnt have addresses. -Theres no instructions on how to use it-frustrating to find out how to do things that I used to do. -it now always tracks your location, even not using app!!!

Why I never get an offer or a coupon? I only have uber in my area and I use it a lot! yet zero coupon

I used Uber for the first time in Queens the other day. The app was o post with pick up and route to my location. The driver was a nice young man with a very nice car. I always heard of Uber and never had a reason to use it and will continue to use Uber. I was originally going to use Lyft, however, their app was much more difficult than uber. Awesome experience overall.

Track my location all the time? Ha! Like I trust you …

11May2017 update: still no "while using the app" location service option, still not using Uber at all. This has to be one of the most arrogant things Uber has tried to date. As long as they dont allow the option to share location only while in the app I wont be using them. Its Lyft instead.

Used it in Dhaka.

I am hooked. Uber does have shady business policies, but as long as Apple keeps them in check , I am going to use Uber.App is better designed than before. Driver was on his first week of work , and acted well. When I not using Uber , I deactivate the Location Services so Uber cannot track me 24/7.

Worst decision ever needless to say.

Its not even worth the one star I rated it. Some drivers are actually pretty good dont get me wrong but majority are very selfish and its obvious where they get it from, the customer service team is the worst Ive ever encountered it honestly hurt my feelings and was inconsiderate how they treat their customers and dont care when they get left without a ride and are charged for a ride they never received and are late for work. I waited 1 hour for an uber driver to finally come and get me to take me to work. Im never waiting that long ever again, better yet never taking uber again in my life. I couldve easily been understanding or dropped the situation had customer service not treated me so poorly. Really guys you need some better training. They also dont know how to check their records because they got my records all wrong when accusing me of stuff. Very sad how I spent so much time and money on a service that is truly so selfish and inconsiderate. Really makes you think about how you spend you money and what better ways you could be spending it than wasting it on uber. Never again will I use this app. I hope anyones experience was better than mine was.

Speaking from my two years of experience

I used uber a lot because Im not a morning person and my shift is always in the morning. It used to be really nice bc most of the drivers were nice and friendly but there are some douchbags that will ruin your entire day by showing their ignorance and simple rudeness. Hate to say it but I am very disappointed and decided to stop using this. Now I have to use lyft or a local taxi company which are way better so far.

Stuck in an endless login loop

They send the 4 digit code to my mobile, I enter it, they tell me there is already an account (yes, obviously, thats why Im trying only to reset my password). The option is to go back and reset. So I click that, get another 4 digit code, get told theres already an account. Endless loop. Utterly stupid. If only Lyft were available in Kenya (where Im visiting, Ive happily stopped using Uber in the U.S. where I live).

Do not get involved with this company. Check your review in about a week, only you will be able to see your review no one else. I find Ubers business practices to be sneaky and despicable. Im not going to recommend this app from Uber. The Uber app pulls the resale value out of your car to Pay YOU. Uber needs to compensate and pay the drives real money, so they can fix and maintain there cars. Uber doesnt pay much to the drivers at all (Uber keeps about 60% of what the rider pay UBER). Once you consider your fuel cost, extremely high cost of ride-share car insurance, car maintenance and the terrible wear and tear on the car itself plus significant lose of value of your car at resale, especially because of the super high miles on your vehicle. The Uber app is a very bad deal for the drive. However the riders are getting a great deal on your dime and time. Sorry for the bad new.

Switch back

The way this looks now vs before the update seems like they took a step backwards. The old way looked much cleaner and was much easier to navigate and understand. They need to update to revert back.

Cancelation fee

I think that uber is handy. When I cant catch the bus or Im running late its a nice option to have. What I dont appreciate is that when I request an uber if I cancel after 5 min. I still get charged, but if a driver cancels after 5 mins. what I ask happens to them? Theyve wasted my time and now I have to spend time trying to get another uber. Which in some cases makes me even more late than I already am. I understand that me being late is nobody elses problem. But at the same time if Im stranded somewhere on a cold night this can also be the case. I find that the cancelation fee for customers reduces the amount of people who cancel on their driver. So what will be done about the driver who cancels on the customer?

Done with Uber

Been using it here and there but got rid of it this morning in Vegas. It would show my pickup location as being about .5 miles away AFTER Id confirm my location. I had to cancel three rides. Tried Lyft and it worked perfectly on the first try

Ratings dont go both ways.

As a customer, it makes me uncomfortable and feel disgusted to know that I would be rated by the drivers. Its me who pay to buy the service, not the other way around. Just like restaurants and malls dont rate their customers but their customers left them feedbacks. Moreover, when drivers rate, they dont have much to judge at. So they tend to rate on some trivial things. For example, this leaves drivers room to give low ratings to those customers who talk topics he dislikes, who ask to change route by a little or go a little further, or even those who simply arent of the same races with him. And I dont think its customers responsibility to leave a good impression on the drivers. As a protest, I would not rate any driver more than 3 stars from now on and I would avoid using Uber as best as I can. God knows how those drivers would think of me just because I spoke Chinese in the car? Or asked them to turn down the loud music? The very thought that I pay to get judged disgusts me deeply. Uber is going too over by doing this. This reminds me of the similar plot in the TV series Black Mirror. What good can technology do us if everything is rated and the rating is controlled by them?

Advices for the Uber App: -Uber needs to create a chat where drivers and customers can text before the pickup, since not all the locations are on the uber search bar, and not everyone has minutes to call. -Uber needs to let their customers share location. For example, if Im a 13 year old kid without an uber account on my phone and my mom needs someone to pick me up. I should have the chance to share my location through "SMS" or through "WhatsApp" so can my mom could open it on uber just in case she doesnt know the exact location. -Uber should not charge almost 2 dollars for cancelling 5 minutes after requesting, thats not right. If I dont like the uber that is picking me up, because for some reason the car is broken, the guy seems annoyed, the guy is a creeper..etc. Guys you should take that out for good. -Uber isnt supposed to be like other taxis. Is meant to have a superior quality, in other words, the driver must have qualities that could enrich Ubers image. Uber should make a long quiz for those who want the job, and ask for their ID in case they are banned. If there are at least 3 customers complaining for a specific driver, that driver should be fired. 3 Strikes, you out. -Uber should correct a bug that makes the driver seem he/she is 15min away, mean while actually he/she is 5min away.

Dont Do It

Uber doesnt allow you to tip on the app and the company has no respect for its riders and treats its employees like garbage. I appreciate the concept of building supply and demand into the pricing structure, but Ubers view of its customers is borderline unethical. They collect a lot of data on riders and have already shown that theyll abuse it. Keep away from these guys and find another way to get a ride.
